Restoring Mar Monte Avenue by replacing eucalyptus groves with thriving native ecosystems.
Grove Project Goals
Removal of all of the hazardous and invasive trees.
This project seeks to remove hazardous eucalyptus trees across approximately five acres along Mar Monte Avenue, spanning 28–30 privately owned parcels. It addresses critical risks including fire hazards, falling trees, and environmental damage caused by non-native species. Through ongoing maintenance and community-supported funding, the initiative aims to restore native ecosystems and expand into surrounding areas over time. The effort will be carried out in phases, with coordination among homeowners, local agencies, and funding partners to ensure long-term success.
Why it Matters?
Impact & Vision
This initiative will significantly reduce wildfire and safety risks while restoring the natural balance of the local ecosystem. Native trees such as oaks and pines will reestablish a healthier canopy, supporting the return of wildlife and improving biodiversity. Over time, the project aims to expand into surrounding areas impacted by eucalyptus overgrowth. The long-term vision is a safer, more resilient, and environmentally sustainable landscape for the entire community.
